Numbers of desperate people are growing daily

"The government feeding scheme is not adequate. I get 30 food parcels at a time, yet the demand is 10 times that and growing daily." - Councillor Marina van Wyk

Dear residents of Alberton,

We are all acutely aware of the dire situation we are all finding ourselves in.

Nobody is okay but some are less okay than others.

I want to thank you, the people who are donating and contributing in whatever way to feed the destitute.

There are two reasons I know of why people are giving – compassion and safety and security.

While wanting to ease the suffering of others is a worthy and noble cause, it seems wanting to protect one’s own is equally important.

We all know that even the sweetest people in good times can turn into violent, destructive and even killing machines when hungry and desperate.

No matter what your reasons, we have an increasing number of very hungry and desperate people all around us.

I am pleading with you to join in the challenge to feed them.

The government feeding scheme is not adequate. I get 30 food parcels at a time, yet the demand is 10 times that and growing daily.

I am appealing to you if you are not yet involved to step up and step in.

We need food, not money or anything else. Just food.

If you can assist with the following, it will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in feeding those in dire need.

• Eggs

• Mielie Meel

• Pilchards

• Coffee or tea

• Sugar

• Soya mince

• Rice

• Baby formula

• Canned mix vegetables

• Packets of soup

• Canned fruit

Please, your contributions will make all the difference.

All Donations and Contributions can be delivered to the Bracken Park Community Hall, Hennie Alberts Street, Mayberry Park. The Hall opposite the corner garage just on JG Strijdom.

You can start delivering from Tuesday morning 8am.
