On Friday evening March 7 at about 20:00, my son was hijacked in our driveway on his return from varsity.
We called Fox Security, who immediately alerted the police, who were here within ten minutes, along with a trauma counsellor.
My son was not injured in any way, and our neighbours were supportive and neighbourly.
We are going for trauma counselling, courtesy of Alberton SAPS.
I cannot speak for any other police station, but in all my dealings with Alberton Police Station, I’ve been treated courteously and efficiently, usually receiving a case number within an hour. This time was no exception.
A special word of thanks must also go to Special Operations Group, another security firm working in the Alberton area who, even though we are not their clients, sped here and did what they could to help us.
It was a terrible incident, but because of the above-mentioned people, it was rendered less terrible, and they need to be publicly acknowledged.
