The heat is on in Sanlam Cancer Challenge, Gauteng

The heat is on in the Sanlam Cancer Challenge.

The Sanlam Cancer Challenge, South Africa’s biggest mass participation sports event, will be hosting a number of golf days in Gauteng this weekend as part of the drive to raise funds for cancer research and support.

The Woodhill men’s club competition will take place on Saturday May 17 at Woodhill Golf Club.

The Reading men’s and ladies’ club competitions will take place on Saturday 17 May at Reading Country Club from Alberton.

The winners of the club competitions will go through to the regional finals, and the winners here qualify for the finals at the Gary Player Country Club and Lost City Golf Course at Sun City from October 20 and 21.

“We were blown away by the support we received in the 2013 series and the record R3.3-million we were able to raise for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA). The success of this series and its effectiveness in the fight against cancer relies on every single golfer in South Africa to play his or her part, from our patron Ernie Els to the club golfer. And we appreciate every bit of support. The Sanlam Cancer Challenge enables club golfers anywhere in the country to do something positive and make a real impact through the game they love,” said Sanlam Sponsorship Manager Gary van Loggerenberg.
