Southern boxing prospect to take next shot

Southern boxing prospect, Paul Kamanga, will make his next big step towards a title shot when he will feature at African Rings’ “Hot Shots”.

SOUTHERN boxing prospect, Paul Kamanga, will make his next big step towards a title shot when he will feature at African Rings’ “Hot Shots”.

The tournament will take place on Tuesday July 15 at Emperors Palace and will be presented by African Ring in conjunction with Golden Gloves Promotions.

“We are confident that we can pull off another win. This is a very important fight for Paul, as he needs to be in fine form to have a shot at the title,” said trainer Anton Gilmore. “We don’t think that his opponent will have enough arsenals to beat Paul.”

Kamanga will climb in the ring against Boitshepo Mandawe in the junior welterweight division, knowing that he must protect his unbeaten streak as a professional. Currently he boasts 12 wins (KO’s eight) with no losses. On the other hand, Mandawe is the more experienced boxer with a total of 17 fights under the belt. He won 14 and lost three.

Another boxer from Box Office that will be in action is Rofhiwa Maemu, who will take on Joey Stiglingh. They will fight each other in the junior lightweight division over six rounds. Maemu has made a change in trainers and will now have Gilmore in his corner on fight night. His record reads nine fights (KO’s two) four losses and one drawn. He has had the privilege to fight Kamanga, Adam de Moor and Allan Bouwer.

“We know that we are the underdogs, but we train to win fights, and based on his pedigree of the fighter he will box, we know that we have a chance. Rofhiwa has changed a lot under my management, and we will be ready to take on Joey,” said Gilmore.

Stiglingh will be back in the ring after a short absence and will want to prove that he is back for better things.
