Alberton boasts with provincial hockey player

Jasons ultimate indoor hockey highlight is the selection for Eastern Gauteng indoor hockey team to the inter-provincial tournament in Durban

ALBERTON – Jason Kearns from Alberton Hockey Club followed up his provincial indoor hockey selection earlier this year, with field hockey selection for Eastern Gauteng.

He represented Eastern Gauteng during July at the SA Country Districts tournament in Pretoria.

Jason, who was born in 1990, started playing hockey at the age of 14 in 2004 for Hoërskool Dinamika. From 2006 to 2008 he played for Dinamika’s first team. He was first recognised at the hockey field by being selected for the junior district team, and also at the age of 16 in 2006 he played himself into Alberton Hockey Club’s first team. This is his tenth season as Alberton player.

Jason also played indoor hockey from 2009 to 2014, with his ultimate indoor hockey highlight selection at the age of 24 for Eastern Gauteng indoor hockey team to the inter-provincial tournament in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal at the beginning of March.

Over and above his own hockey playing commitments, Jason is also coaching Hoërskool Alberton hockey.
