Cobras Shotokan Karate club from Alberton recently took away 70 Medals at the South African Shotokan Karate Academy’s national championships.

COBRAS Shotokan Karate club from Alberton recently took away 70 Medals at the South African Shotokan Karate Academy’s national championships held in Benoni on July 4 and 5.

Altogether 28 students from the Cobras club participated at the event and they achieved 33 gold, 26 silver, and 11 bronze medals and won three of the four Top Achiever trophies for the day. The trophies were awarded to Andrea Kolkenbeck-ruh (Best Senior Female), Africa Masilo (Best Junior Male) and Amy Howard (Best junior female).

The instructors of the club, Sensei Laurent (6th Dan) and Sensei Nicholas (4th Dan), are extremely proud of the club’s achievements as this is the club’s best results to date in its 17 years of existence at this event.
