SPORTING Football Club hosted SLFA district tournament with great success over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday October 4 and 5 at their home grounds.
Some 2 000 spectators and soccer players attended the tournament on each day as the South played host to the tournament this year. Overall winner was Rand Central.
The only team from the South that won the tournament was the u.11 team, having two officials from Sporting FC, Carla Edwards as manager and coach, Jock Dias. Carla was the only woman who was selected to be part of the SLFA district coaches and managers this year.
The players who made the team were mostly from Sporting FC and a few from Linhill and Mondeor clubs.
