Wow! How sad it is to realise that people take so much joy in causing harm to others, especially the Diamonds. I read the front page of the Alberton Record and wanted to contribute as follows:
Mr Neil Diamond is widely known as the Godfather of Alberton, because of his vast and diverse business dealings. But he is also a philanthropist, a community leader and a family man. Thus we all hate him? We hate his achievements? We hate him for being one of the richest people in Alberton?
I hate him for having it all and worst is his wealth spreads all over our community? Huh? Wait!
All over the community, yes you naive people we are first to throw stones, because he is a public figure with a fragile public image, but very few of us realise what he actually does for this community. We criticise the Godfather, but we are no angels, not one of us can say that I have never done anything wrong!
Well people, we all have flaws, but we enjoy criticising Neil Diamond, even though he is the one person making a difference in our community’s lives, the lives of his family and in his friends’ lives; he even touches the lives of the people who work for him. All the people who have actually had the privilege to meet him, will tell you how he touched their lives.
He is kind, generous and has a passion for his community. Oh yes I’m not afraid to say Mr Diamond, you are my hero, you are the one person standing up for what you believe in, even the mighty Carte Blanche could not get you down! Sir, you should be the role model for all these naive people who hate you, because they are jealous and secretly wish they could be you.
I would love to call you my friend, yes my friend! You are the person we all deep inside admire, but are too afraid to admit it. Congratulations on your victory over Carte Blanche. Go well, Mr Diamond and enjoy your life as we all would like to. You are the only person who makes the best of every situation, and we can all feed off you in our lust to make ourselves look good and forget about our own dirty laundry.
