Gauteng BMX will stage a big BMX festival including three race events during the weekend of November 28 to 30
ALBERTON – GAUTENG BMX will stage a big BMX festival including three race events during the weekend of November 28 to 30, with the racing at Germiston BMX Club on Saturday morning and at Kempton Park BMX track on the Saturday night and then on Sunday at Alrode BMX Club for the finals.
A total prize money of R30 000 is up for grabs.
The festival comprises four segments:
Mass Ride Segment
Friday November 28: Early evening: The Mass Ride is a mass ride by cyclists of all ages and all kinds of bicycles through the streets of greater Johannesburg in the evening route. This does not form part of the racing, but is a real fun way of kicking off the weekend.
The Old School BMX reunion, display and competition segment: Saturday November 30 most of the day at Germiston BMX Club: The hoarders and restorers among the community will hold the annual Old School BMX reunion, while racing takes place at Germiston track. A number of lovingly restored and very rare 80’s BMX Race bikes and others will be there.
The Amazing Race segment
Saturday November 29: Morning: First leg of three legs racing at Germiston BMX Club: First set of moto’s for the weekend.
Saturday November 29: Evening: Second leg of three legs racing at Kempton Park BMX Club second set of three moto’s for the weekend. (Night racing)
Sunday November 30: Morning: Third leg of three legs racing at Alrode BMX Club third set of three moto’s for the weekend.
Show and Shine segment
Sunday November 30: Mid morning at Alrode BMX Club: This will be an opportunity to enter your race bike into a show and shine completion. Various prizes to be won.
