Artists unite against piracy
The Singobani Art and Community Development Initiative (SADI) cordially invites all interested parties to join SADI at the Launch of Anti-Piracy, Counterfeit and Stolen Goods Campaign “Theme”.
The launch will take place on February 28 at 10:00 at the Tokoza Auditorium.
Counterfeiting and piracy are illicit businesses in which criminal networks thrive and adversely affect the creative sector. This also have adverse effects on economic growth and job creation.
The event will be attended by many prominent musicians, performing groups and stake holders in intellectual property industries, representatives from affected sectors such the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Arts and Culture, the South African Revenue Services, City Councils, the Culture and Creative Industry Federation of South Africa, the South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO), the Association of Independent Record Companies (AIRCO), law enforcement agencies, the Hawkers Association, Trade Unions and Textile industry and electronic industries.
This campaign will pool all necessary resources to fight counterfeit, pirated and stolen goods in order to save our country’s economy and jobs, but also encourage investor confidence in the creative industries.
