Baxter, Lamola secure monthly awards

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter and Bloemfontein Celtic striker Lerato Lamola have scooped the final Absa Premiership monthly awards.

KAIZER Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter and Bloemfontein Celtic striker Lerato Lamola have scooped the final Absa Premiership monthly awards, by claiming the coach and player of the month for April and May 2015 respectively.

Baxter’s team, who were consistent throughout the 2014/2015 campaign, picked up another four wins and conceded only one goal as they went unbeaten during the latest voting period (this was before their loss to Bidvest Wits last night).

Amakhosi also showed discipline, highlighting Baxter’s leadership skills, to retain their intensity as they completed a dominant run to the league title.

In the meantime Amakhosi has secured the Absa Premiership title after beating Chippa United 2-0 and received the much coveted trophy.

Lamola, meanwhile, scored crucial goals for Celtic, helping them put up a fight in the top half of the Absa Premiership table. A hard-working player, the judges felt he had stood out by combining well with his teammates, creating chances and using his pace to keep defensive opposition units on their toes.

As proud sponsors of the top-flight league, Absa are pleased to recognise Baxter and Lamola for the roles they have played in their respective teams’ performances as they continue to prosper at the highest level of the domestic game.
