ALBERTON – On December 15, 2013, at approximately 21:45, we were watching television when five men smashed a window and entered our home.
My husband was shot and as a result of his injuries, passed away the following day.
Due to the quick thinking and efficiency of Geoff Steyn and his wife Linda, from the CPF, the driver of the getaway car was caught and this led to the five perpetrators being arrested.
Sergeant Mario Ness was appointed as our investigating officer and he worked tirelessly on this case, He was dedicated and thorough in his investigation.
On April 21, the trial started. As you can imagine, it was a very emotional time for myself and my daughter.
On Tuesday, May 19, they were all convicted and are now behind bars. The only reason we have this positive result was due to the dedication of Sergeant Mario Ness and Geoff and Linda Steyn.
The CPF is a voluntary organisation which helps in the community and they should be supported in every way possible.
