Thank you for giving me my sight back

I was diagnosed with glaucoma and a very bad cataract. The decision to have an operation or not was a difficult one.

ALBERTON – My name is Okkie Olivier. I am 79 years old. I am from Florentia and I was diagnosed with glaucoma and a very bad cataract.

On June 4, I had an eye operation to remove the cataract from my right eye. Before the operation I had a very little vision as I am blind in my left eye. It was a very difficult decision for me to make whether to have the operation or not. I decided to have the operation and could not believe that afterwards my vision had improved so much.

I would like to thank my doctor, Dr Philip Kraucamp, and all the staff who work at Optimed. They have made my life so much better and I am so grateful to them. I am now able to see my beautiful wife and my grandson, Max, who is seven months old.

It does not matter how old you are, you need to live life to its fullest and I can see clearly now.
