*Support Paws in Motion on the corner of Du Plessis and Second Avenue on Saturdays, between 10:00 and 13:00, when they sell boerewors rolls for R25 each. Funds raised go towards their pet rescue fund which helps sick and injured strays that find their way into the organisation’s care.

*Country Crafters will be at 101 Klipriver Drive, Mulbarton, every Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 to 15:30. Every second Saturday of the month will be pensioners’ crafters day which is especially for pensioner crafters to showcase their products. A lot of new marketers have joined the Country Crafters so there is a greater variety to choose from. Join them for tea or coffee and cake. More crafters needed. *Bikers of all ages are invited to the second Vic’s Vaal Bike Dash, a 102 km marshaled motorbike ride from Meyersdal through to Parys Golf Estate in Parys, on October 4, in aid of Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services in New Market Park. Brothers Jared (18) and Jon Daniel Sadie (16), from Alberante, wanted to honour their mom’s legacy so they organised the first Vic’s Vaal Bike Dash, held in March last year. Vicky Bruce passed away in January 2013, at the age of 38, after years of suffering from Osteogenesis Imperfecta. Entry fee for the ride is R200 per rider and R200 per pillion. The fee includes a breakfast at Parys Golf Estate and a gift. The ride will start at 08:00, leaving from De Marionette Shopping Centre in Meyersdal. *The Arthritis Foundation will be hosting a lecture for World Arthritis Day on Thursday, October 8, at Wits Medical School, 7 York Road, Parktown, in Lecture Theatre 4 at 11:00. It is time to groove against cancer so get your team ready for this year’s CANSA Relay For Life at Hoërskool Dinamika, situated at 55 Roy Campbell Street, Brackenhurst in Alberton. The theme for the relay is Hippie/60s and teams are invited and encouraged to come dressed for the occasion. The relay starts at 18:00 on Saturday, October 24, and ends at 06:00 on Sunday, October 25. *Calling all animal loving golfers. Alberton SPCA will be hosting a golf day on November 10, at Reading Country Club.
