ALBERTON- What an incredible event – A Wednesday sunset in the Meyersdal Eco Estate, with the sounds of popular singer and platinum selling South African musician and songwriter Elvis Blue’s most beautiful songs filling the air.

Close on 260 people filled the patio at the estate’s clubhouse on Wednesday, September 22, watching the sunset, nibbling on their picnic basket contents and enjoying the company of friends and family, while awaiting the superstar’s first ever ”Oppi Stoep” appearance in Meyersdal.

Elvis Blue rose to fame in 2010, when he took part in the sixth season of the reality show, Idols South Africa, and was announced as the winner on November 2, 2010.

He is the most successful Idol in the history of the franchise, with every album since his win in 2010 winning at least one SAMA (South African Music Award) and with some winning more than one.

He has recorded and released nine albums in his music career, which spans 15 years, four of which were post-Idols. Two of these are platinum and one is gold – with his latest album, “Êrens in die middel van nêrens”, released in May, this year. He has had 10 Top 10 radio singles and has sold over 350 000 albums since 2010.

The patron of Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services, Corlia Booysen, thanked all those involved in putting this fund-raising event in aid of the hospice together.

“I witnessed the passion and commitment with which the hospice was started and I would like to see it grow and help even more people than it currently does,” she said.

Barbara Campbell-Ker, chairperson of Stepping Stone Hospice, congratulated the Alberton community on the amazing support and kindness bestowed on the facility.

“The support and camaraderie I witnessed tonight makes me feel safe in the knowledge that our hospice is in excellent hands,” she said.
