Local lad, Altan Bouw (12) from Verwoerdpark, recently won the 2015 Mini ROK SA National Karting Championship and qualified to represent South Africa at the ROK International World Finals held in Lonato, Italy.
Altan recently returned from a three week trip in Italy where he competed against the best the world has to offer and showed that even in the rain, he had the pace to compete with the front runners. Unfortunately, due to technical problems, the end results were not what he expected but he still managed to finish a respectable 11th in the B final out of 120 competitors.
On returning to SA, Altan was invited to the Motorsport SA annual awards gala evening held at Emperors Palace. Altan was awarded his South African Motorsport Protea colours at this prestigious event.
At this function, held in the Senate Room at Emperors Palace, on Sunday, December 6, attended by over 300 guests, Motorsport South Africa honoured its 2015 national champions, national Protea colour recipients and special/lifetime award recipients.
What a great 2015 it turned out to be for this young man and he would like to thank the following sponsors whom made it all possible: Team RKT, SAI Duty Free, Servochem, Alberante BMW, Evergreen Turf, Raceview Motors, Tyres 2000, Foresta Timber, Building Supply Centre, and all the friends and family.
Young Altan is all geared up and looking forward to the 2016 season.
