
FNB UJ put FNB NWU-Puk to the sword to the awe of a capacity crowd at the Fanie du Toit Sport Fields in Potchefstroom and was left devastated on Monday, February 15 as FNB UJ claimed a hard-fought, well deserved 36-31 victory over hosts FNB NWU-Puk.
After last week’s romp of FNB Tuks, this was a rude awakening for Jonathan Mokuena’s side while FNB UJ will paint Potch red, or in this case – orange.
FNB Shimlas fight back stuns FNB TuksAfter finding themselves trailing 43-15 after 43 minutes, FNB Shimlas staged a comeback of immense proportions to snatch a stunning 47-46 victory in the final moments of the match against FNB Tuks in Pretoria.
FNB NMMU push FNB Maties to the very end
FNB Maties were their own worst enemies as poor handling and ill-discipline nearly cost them at the death. But a superb kick from Theo Stapleberg ensured FNB Maties remained undefeated after two rounds of FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International. The final whistle blow at both teams scoring 20 apiece.
FNB UWC bounce back against FNB TUT
It was a packed FNB TUT Stadium as the home side took on FNB UWC. Both sides were eager to put last week’s defeats behind them, but it was FNB UWC who was the hungrier of the two as they ended on the right side of a 21-15 score line.
Historic first Varsity Cup win for FNB CUT Ixias
FNB CUT Ixias recorded their historic first in the FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International on Monday evening. The Ixias put in a gutsy performance to narrowly beat the visiting FNB UCT Ikey Tigers in a wet Bloemfontein, by 10-9. At the half time break, Ikeys led by 9-3.
