Daughter of the famed South African poet has put together an amazing tribute album celebrating the legacy that was Ingrid Jonker. Appropriately named ‘Die Kind Is Nog Jonger’, the double album features 36 artists who wanted to come together to commemorate her tragic and untimely suicide 50 years ago.
Her poems have been brought back to life by a variety of musicians (Anton Goosen, Jennifer Ferguson, Inge Beckmann) and different genres (pop, metal, rock, acoustic). It’s not entirely Afrikaans either. There are a number of English translated songs on the album.
