BMX riders burn rubber at Gauteng Champs
SUNDAY, April 17 saw the third and fourth leg of the Gauteng BMX Champs being held at the world-class BMX track in Alrode.
Racing was intense as riders battled for honours in categories ranging from u.6 to the Elite riders. No quarter was asked or given and there was unfortunately the odd spill which proved to be painful on the hard uncompromising surface.
The event was attended by 75 riders from Gauteng as well as four visitors from Zimbabwe.
One of the riders who won his section (Elite) was Alex Limberg, who has already attended the Junior Olympics in China and on the strength of his performance he looks destined for greater honours.
He did not have it all his own way, though, and was pushed hard by Brandon Pratt (second) as well as Miquel Carvalho (third).
The event was very well organised and went off without any visible hitches.
