Figures models on the catwalk
Figures Modelling Agency strut their stuff at a modelling competition that will see Alberton finalists take on other national models in June.
THE much anticipated semi-finals for the International Model of the Year Competition took place at the Mall at Newmarket in Alberton on Saturday, May 21.
Figures Models Alberton entered 37 of their students into the semi-finals with seven young men participating. The young ladies and gentlemen ranged in age from 12 to 23 and a standardised outfit of a black Figures-branded top and either black shorts/shirt or pants were worn to minimise distractions from the models themselves.
“The turnout and support was phenomenal, with much cheering and name chanting happening throughout the show. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sash sponsors for their generosity, Debbie Nebbeling and her team at Paul James Hairdressers at the Mall for sponsoring all the models’ hairstyles, Izelle Lemue, Joanna De Bruyn and the Mall for their support and patronage. Last but not least, a huge shout-out to all the students who participated in the show. Without you, the show would not have gone on, so thank you,” said Emma Griffin-Coetzer of Figures Models.
The Alberton finalists will be competing against all the other finalists from the national Figures branches on June 4, at the Roodepoort Youth Theatre. The grand prize that will see one lucky winner get an all-expenses paid trip to the IMTA (International Modelling and Talent Agency) in New York in July.
The Mall at Newmarket has generously extended its patronage by offering to host the IMTA Talent Search on October 29, for any aspiring models, actors, singers and dancers.
