THE Alberton Amateur Athletic Club, shares its Comrades Marathon results for 2016, held on Saturday, May 29.

This year saw 26 runners from the Alberton club take on the oldest and largest ultra-marathon in the world, run between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

The first veteran male was Glyn Rynhoud in the M40 age category, with a finishing time of 06:54:24 with an overall position of 191 and category position 54.

Niel Cillie was the first senior male from the club to finish in the men’s open (MOPEN) category, finishing in a time of 08:03:11, overall position 1057, category position: 646.First master male, Marius Carstens in the M50 age category, finished in a respectable 08:27:25, overall position: 1522, category position: 101.

Alberton’s first female finisher was the veteran Barbara Vicki Luckemeyer, who ran in the F40 age category, and finished in an excellent time of 08:30:40, overall position: 101 and category position: 30.

The first senior female to finish, Charlotte Burger, ran in the female open (FOPEN) category, and completed the race in: 11:34:10, with an overall position of: 2099, and a category position of: 954.

Last official finisher, Luc van Goidsenhoven, in the M60 category, made it within the cut-off time, in a time of: 11:55:44, overall position: 11 117 and category position: 330.
