Joburg streets shut down for basketball

Red Bull King of the Rock competition returns.

ONE-on-one basketball will take over the streets of Braamfontein as the Red Bull King of the Rock competition returns.

On August 13, De Beer Street will be closed off when basketball players go one-on-one for top honours at the Red Bull King of the Rock South Africa Final.

The battle will follow an exciting round-robin format that will keep the crowd involved and entertained. The top eight ballers will then be drawn into a single-elimination tournament bracket. This section gets straight to the point: you lose, you go home. In the end, winner takes all and gets to represent South Africa at the Red Bull King of the Rock World Finals in Serbia later this year.

Through three rigorous qualifiers taking place in and around Johannesburg over a three-week period in July and August, players will be selected to compete in the finals at 10:00 on Saturday, August 13. The location is just a stone’s throw from the Neighbourgoods Market.
