Relay For Life is a fun, overnight team event that raises awareness of cancer as well as much-needed funds to fight cancer.
THE Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) is proud to host the annual Relay For Life Alberton on October 14 and 15. The relay will be held at the Germiston City Soccer Club.
Participants are encouraged to don their purple as the theme this year is ‘Paint Alberton Purple’. Come and enter your team (R1 500 per team of 15 members) for this special event. Relay For Life is a fun, overnight team event that raises awareness of cancer as well as much-needed funds to fight cancer. During the relay, teams of 10 to 15 co-workers, friends, neighbours and families commit to keeping at least one member walking the track at all times because cancer never sleeps.
Each team member submits a registration fee of R100 (ages 13 and up); children between six and 12 years register at R50 each and children under six years enter for free. Cancer survivors register for free. Those without teams are welcome to join the relay fun too.
Cansa would appreciate local businesses that can assist with donating food, drinks, and gift certificates of all kinds to help make the event fun and rewarding. A monetary contribution to sponsor the event would also be welcome. They are in need of entertainment in a form of an MC, music, dancing, games, drummies, sponsorships for 200 cancer survivors, 3 000 tea light candles, and a main sponsor for the event. Corporates are also welcome to rent a promotion spot for 12 hours at only R150.
Volunteers who can help with the set up on the day of the event are also needed.
