This week I can, with all honesty, say I’m sick of the wind! I have always loved windy days and having been brought up at the coast in England, by the north-sea, windy days were part and parcel of our living there. It was normal and even during the summer months the wind blew, even if only a breeze. Enough is enough now and we can but hope the gales will bring us some rain!
Good manners cost nothing
I’ve always said good manners will take you far and cost nothing! I often visit local schools, primary and high schools, government and private, and it feels really good when I’m greeted with a friendly “Hello Ma’am”.
I have noticed children in private schools are a little more prone to this but, without a doubt, many children in government schools also greet me with a friendly hello. If you are a schoolteacher reading this, please instil in your learners just how important good manners are. It’s not only important for children but some adults could also do with learning the importance of good manners. If there’s one thing which infuriates me it is when I’m out shopping and hold a door open for someone and they just walk through, as if it’s their right, and say nothing! I have learnt my learn my lesson now though and say, “You are welcome” in a very loud voice! They don’t even look back, but then they wouldn’t because they lack any kind of manners at all. The same with a lift, so many shoppers enter the lift before others have got out. Come on, manners cost nothing.
Clean and fresh
Nigel’s Laundry in Southcrest Alberton opened earlier this year and is owned and run by Nigel Stride who has been in the customer service industry for many years. He is assisted by two very capable women, Annemarie and Lizandri. Since launching, Nigel’s Laundry has had the pleasure of servicing a growing, loyal and contented client base made up of restaurants, hotels, guest houses, military and, of course, your traditional domestic (families and singles) clients. “Our customers frequently ask us how we get our laundry so spotlessly clean. That’s our job,” said Nigel.
They offer a full laundry service, wash, dry and fold and/or ironing of laundry as well as repair and alteration services and dry cleaning. They also can collect and deliver (T’s & C’s apply).

Bouquet of the week
To Ocean Basket at The Glen Shopping Centre, well done! We decided to take advantage of the birthday special on Tuesday evening, September 13 and even though it was very busy we only queued for 10 minutes for a table, which wasn’t bad. We all had the birthday special of fish and chips at R21 per serving. The waiters were really on the ball and literally raced between tables, taking orders and serving drinks. Our fish and chips, even though at a reduced price, was the great quality we have grown used to at Ocean Basket and the service was fantastic. I forgot to take our waiter’s name, but I think they all worked equally as hard to give great service with a smile. Thanks for the super meal.
