Glenvista hosts Broken Wings Golf Day

As a non-profit organisation, Broken Wings relies on donations from the public and receives no assistance from the state

Broken Wings, the charity organisation that helps physically and mentally handicapped people from Alberton and surrounds, recently held a golf day to raise much needed funds for the important work they do.

The Glenvista Country Club hosted the golf day when golfers played a four-ball competition, on Thursday, October 20. During the day raffles were sold and golfers where in for some nice surprises, with prizes to be won.

Rain threatened to cut the day short, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of those who came out to support the cause and do their good deed. The day turned out to be a success, in spite of the weather.

As a non-profit organisation, Broken Wings relies on donations from the public and receives no assistance from the state, so days like these are very important in assisting them to continue their work.

“I would like to thank everyone who came out to support us; and those who didn’t come out on the day, but still managed to contribute to raising funds – and to everyone who made this possible, it means a lot,” said Sheryl Swanepoel, spokesperson for Broken Wings.
