Bridge the Gap: Philanthropy Ekurhuleni Style

Regardless of Ethnic background, social stance, gender or age, the Motsepe Foundation provides a safe wing for all, a shelter from the harsh realities of our daily lives.

I recently read about the great initiatives companies in Alberton take to show their corporate social responsibility as corporate citizens of Ekurhuleni. There is, however, a significant decline in this and other acts of random kindness or philanthropy in our community.

I regularly get asked for donations and financial support for community initiatives, schools and various projects that do not enjoy structured funding elsewhere.

I always enquire as to who else is involved in giving financial support and to my disappointment the list is becoming shorter and shorter every time. People do not seem to plough back into the community that they hail from anymore.

It was therefore a wonderful experience to be present when the Motsepe foundation visited Ekurhuleni last week as part of their philanthropic expedition through South Africa. It was a true benchmark on the road to success for the people of Ekurhuleni and the Municipality that the Motsepe foundation decided to include, the community of Thokoza right here on our doorstep.

The Motsepe foundation is not just giving money, they are investing in the fellowship of citizens of South Africa that have a united vision and a dream of independence and equality. The Motsepe Foundation has a dream of a better life and prosperity for all who live in South Africa. Ekurhuleni has joined hands with the Motsepe Foundation in realizing this dream, not just for the people of Thokoza and Alberton but all communities in Ekurhuleni.

The Motsepe foundation, established by business man Patrice Motsepe, has set out to aid people to become self-efficient and resourceful citizens, paving the paths to their own futures and equipping them with the necessary skills and resources to change their destiny.

The Motsepe Foundation does not only teach and aid Economic Empowerment, Women Empowerment and Community uplifting, but teaches and express the real values of family.

Regardless of Ethnic background, social stance, gender or age, the Motsepe Foundation provides a safe wing for all, a shelter from the harsh realities of our daily lives.

This is such an inspirational act of kindness that I truly hope it will touch the life of every person in our community and bridge the gap to make a real difference. Lets plough back into the lives of others as we used to do in the past and start philanthropy Ekurhuleni style.
