There is a reason for low water pressure

This has since caused strain and consumers are now experiencing low water pressure and at times taps run dry.

THE National Department of Water and Sanitation through Minister Nomvula Mokonyane, has once more announced that the water level in the Vaal River has dropped tremendously; bringing into effect water rationing from our supplier: Rand Water.

“We’ve been warned by Rand Water to use water sparingly. This (drop) has caused Rand Water to put restrictions on pumping water to our storage tanks,” said Themba Gadebe, EMM spokesperson.

“Due to the above mentioned, we have challenges concerning our reservoir level operating at its optimum level, as the water demand from our consumers is more than what Rand Water is pumping to our reservoirs. That has since caused strain and consumers are now experiencing low water pressure; and at times taps run dry.

“We’ve since tried to provide water tankers that supply potable water to the most affected residents: in the Palm Ridge area, namely in Palm Ridge proper, plus extensions 2, 3 and 4.

“The above mentioned situation will remain the same up until the water level of the Vaal River rises – and we get proper feed from Rand Water.” Gadebe concluded.

Residents should take note that these measures are the reason why some areas are experiencing lower water pressure and water supply problems.
