Not according to a previous report which indicated that an amount of in excess of R70 thousand was recovered from insurance but that council may spend the money on things other than repairing the bridge.
What about recovery from the trucker who demolished the bridge in the first place?
If the mayor and councillors cannot put a date to just when the incident occurred then tell them to pack their bags, we have enough idiots about without them.
No more #@$%##.

Councillor Estelle Visser responds:
As was reported in the Alberton Record on September 25 the bridge was not insured and the money to repair the bridge was not claimed against the firm that owned the truck that knocked off the bridge.
As a result of different messages regarding the insurance money for the bridge and a possible claim, I as a DA Councillor, orally asked the ANC Executive Mayor the questions you are asking now, during the last council meeting on August 29.
The answers which I received were published by the Alberton Record. Please note that if you have proof that any false information was given through by the Mayor, please provide the correct information and reveal the source of your information, which can then be investigated by MPAC or the SIU.
Yes, I as DA Ward councillor in the area do dispute the date when the bridge was damaged, as given by the Mayor and I have proof of it.
Please understand that information given by the ANC Mayor is not necessarily endorsed by the DA. Questioning such information is the order of the day in every council meeting.
