On Thursday, January 26, at around 19:00, I passed a young man in Olifant Street, Brackendowns, who had been knocked off his motorbike about 15 minutes before by three guys in a red golf GTI.
According to the young man, he had just made a food delivery around the corner and had turned into Olifant Street when the three young men exited Magalies/Palala Street, deliberately driving him off the road, hitting him and driving off again.
He has no idea why they did this. Luckily he landed on a grass verge, but his motorbike went flying into the road, breaking the delivery box, gear lever, gear handle and other parts of the bike.
This was an unnecessary criminal act of hit and run. I went home and got my husband with his bakkie so we could help him. What makes me very sad is that many people drove past him before and after I stopped and they did nothing, which makes them as guilty as the those three guys who knocked him over. At least another delivery man stopped and offered help, but when I reassured him that it was not necessary, he left to continue his work. We made sure the man got home safely and informed his manager about what happened. Simple acts of kindness cost nothing but mean a lot to the people who are in need.
This young man owns the motorbike himself and uses it to work and deliver food as a way to make a living, so these men who knocked him over have cost him time off work, extra expenses to repair his bike and could have caused him severe injuries. All he was doing was trying to make an honest living.
To the three guys in the red golf GTI, you will get caught and I hope you rot in jail one day for your disgusting, unnecessary criminal act. No such deed should go unpunished.
