This story really touched me as one of my friends (a female) was a victim of drug abuse and is currently in rehab in Vereeniging, and on Monday night one of my other friends was brutally assaulted and it was a drug related assault and is currently in ICU. My friend had this passion for modeling and won many pageants. She wanted to be a professional model but then one day after a modeling show one of the other models introduced her to Cocaine, and from there on she became addicted. Her whole future is messed up.
We reside in Eden Park where drugs is a major issue, I see school kids bunking school just for drugs, I see my close friends losing a lot of weight because of drugs, I know many people in Eden Park who had a bright future but they are now victims of drugs. And the drug dealers don’t give a damn as long as they make money and drive around in their fancy cars.
My girlfriend and I are organizing a beauty pageant in November to raise awareness of drugs, this show will be dedicated to my niece, as well as the girls in Eden Park who had so much potential and who always entered the local modeling shows in Eden Park.
What we need is a motivational speaker for the event, someone who could open the eyes of our youth and let them know of the dangers of drugs and its long term effects. When I saw the article it grabbed my attention and I thought I could take this opportunity to help us out with our show. We are open to any kind of contribution we really need all the help we can get as drugs is ruining our community and its causing a lot of violence among our youth.
