The Alberton Rugby Club suffers their first defeat

A SQUARE Forklift Alberton Rugby Club has suffered their first loss of the the season.
On a wet and cold Saturday afternoon, May 13, Alberton went down to Germiston Simmer 22-18.
Shane Germishys from Alberton scored early in the fixture, intercepting the ball and dotting it down for the first try of the match. With the successful conversion the score was 7-0.
Simmers replied quickly with a couple of tries and before half-time Alberton trailed 17-10.
It’s been a monkey on the back of the Alberton side this season – the first half performance once again would be nothing to write home about.
The second half performance was a lot better, but not enough to walk home with another victory.
Scrumhalf Donovin Putter snipped down the blind side to go over for a try, but the try was disallowed as it was ruled that he had crossed the dead ball line.
Theo Rhodes put Shane Germishys, his centre partner, into space and Shane drew the fullback and put Thorn Khumalo away to go over Alberton’s second. With the score line at this stage at 18-17 in favour of Alberton there was still plenty to play for.
Simmer worked hard for their fourth try, and snatched victory and Alberton’s winning streak in the last three minutes of the match.
