Ruben won the man of the match award in his team's game in the Supersport Challenge quarter finals

A TALENTED teenager from Alberton is making a big name for himself in the world of rugby.

Ruben van Heerden, 19, who plays for the Blue Bulls, made his Super Rugby debut on July 8 making him one of the youngest ever to do so.

The week prior to this momentous occasion Ruben won the man of the match award in his team’s game in the Supersport Challenge quarterfinals against the Sharks.

This massive young man, standing at two metres tall, is an imposing figure on the field and played for SA Schools in 2015 as well as winning the Affies Sportsman of the Year Award in the same year and Most Promising Player Award in 2016.

“Ruben spends most of his time away with his busy schedule but Alberton is still his home,” says his proud mother, Celeste.
