STREET lights in Albertsdal have been off for a while and residents are complaining about it due to the fact that when it is darker, it makes it easier for thieves to do crime at night.
A resident who wishes to stay anonymous told the RECORD that he went out for a smoke one night in Drakensberg Crescent in Albertsdal, where he heard a vehicle in the street. “The car’s lights were on and they stopped across my backyard and switched them off. Then I heard car doors and I saw something like camera flashes going off,” he said.
He fears that criminals are taking photos of houses they want to break into. “I did not even look over the fence; I just stood there and listened,” he added. Streets like Cedarberg Street, Outeniqua Place, Strydpoort Street and Drakensberg Crescent are just some of the streets where the lights are not working.
