Alberton High Equestrians qualify for Gauteng Championships
"We had a fantastic year with great scores, some on new horses"
RIDERS from Alberton High School’s Equestrian team have been selected to go to the Gauteng Championships.
It has been a busy year for the team, with the riders competing in four Ekurhuleni qualifiers hosted by the South African National Equestrian Schools’ Association (SANESA ) at Eaton Park, Kyalami.
“We had a fantastic year with great scores – some on new horses,” said Leonie Nepgen mother of one of the riders.
“Gauteng Province applies extremely strict selection criteria for both regional and provincial colours, which have been standardised throughout the five regions, so our girls had to work extra hard to achieve,” added Nepgen.
Riders from the school who made the Ekurhuleni Regional Team, will represent the school and region at the finals to be held at the Kyalami Equestrian Park on the weekend of August 4 and 6.
The Ekurhuleni awards evening will be held on September 6, where the riders that have qualified for Gauteng Championships will be receiving their Gauteng colours.
