I recently went to the dump site south of Alrode. I had batteries, fluorescent bulbs and glass already separated.
When I arrived they said they had been instructed not to recycle and all rubbish must be mixed.
Site supervisor Pertrus Madlala confirmed this and said it’s the instruction of Mr Selolo. I have not been able to reach him and believe that something is fishy here.
It may be worth investigating.

RECORD contacted Mr Selolo for comment. He simply said he couldn’t recall giving that order.
At the time of publishing, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality had not responded to our request for comment.
