Hollywood at the Art Farm
A crew of 20 will be showcasing how a film is written, prepped, shot and edited over the course of two days.

THE Art Farm is hosting their first-ever film festival and part of the festivities is shooting a short film right there on the farm on the weekend of November 3 to 5.
Interested in the film industry? Ever been an extra? Ever been on a set while a film is being shot? Maybe you are more of a writer and want to know about script-writing, or maybe you are interested in making your own film? A crew of 20 will be showcasing how a film is written, prepped, shot and edited over the course of two days.
It all starts Friday evening, November 3, with the producer of the short film, Morné Lane (who authored the run-away comedy hit of 2017, Kampterrein) and his crew. They will be chatting about the movie script after which a script will be written and decisions will be taken about the shooting style, wardrobe and actors.
The next morning at 7am, filming will start. The actors and extras will be prepared for their roles.
If you want to stay with the director, actors, sound people and camera-men, you will be able to follow them as they shoot and re-shoot each scene from different angles.
As each scene is completed, the film is rushed to the editor in the editing room, where he will add sound effects, music and cut and re-assemble scenes with different camera shots.
The film will be completed on Saturday and shown that evening at the Gala evening of Bright Light Film Academy.
On Sunday, Nathan from NJ Productions (feel free to give them a Google) will discuss making your own films on a low budget with minimal equipment.
If you just want to watch the seven full-feature and 13 short films, you can buy a day-pass and enjoy the various films on offer.
All times, films, workshops, prices and some previews are listed on The Art Farm’s Facebook and web page. If you have any queries, you can phone Amanda at 079 208 8716 during working hours.
