Racing strip
There is a stretch in Braun Avenue that measures 400m (quarter mile) and believe me every Friday evening is race night.
Two school children have been run over on the corner of Schoeman Street. We have requested EMPD’s presence, but to no avail. I am in possession of footage of the vehicles that fail to stop at this sign and speed over it.
How many children must get hurt or die? It seems to be the norm these days that someone has to die first before something is done. Well, the residents of Verwoerdpark are now calling upon EMPD to do something to take the precaution of saving a life, instead of the repercussion to try and console a broken family.
The legal speed limit on Braun Avenue is actually not 60km/h but way less… and I call upon EMPD and EMM to figure out what the correct and safe speed is in this road as per the impact studies done.
