Mr South Africa contestants give inspiration
As it stands, the winner had been announced - but going back to see what the other contestants said is worth the read.
ORMONDE – Mr SA contestants dressed to impress at Gold Reef City Theme Park on October 7 with a meet and greet. Some of the contestants had to answer questions that involved a more personal side to who they are and what theyre about.
Lesego (22) was up first with the question on what motivates him to get up every morning. He replied: My role models are my parents. Since high school, I have looked up to them as an inspiration. I feel that I should give them something in return for all their hard work. He feels that every generation should improve after the last.
Jeandre Lindeque (28) who feels that Jozi could become our very own New York one day. He explains, If you stand on the top building of Jozi you can see how it looks. He is part of the construction industry.
He was born in Springs moved to PTA and now lives in JHB. He has had a passion for charity his whole life. “It gives you a platform to reach many more people, he explained. He feels he could bring forth and contribute to the brand which is the title Mr SA.He got involved with Mr SA when he and a gym partner spoke about it.
Steven Heuvel is a fighter, an inspirational person. He is part of Rise to the Challenge foundation and ministry team, make a difference campaign – where he and his team go out and play different sports with children. He believes that children who have grown up in any given circumstance should definitely reach for their goals and dreams by not looking at the setbacks but mainly focusing on the more positive outcome.
When asked about physical activity and if it is essential for such a competition, Jaques Fagan responded with: It is very important to look the part. He continued to explain that he trains five days a week. He is a sponsored athlete and believes that a healthy balanced lifestyle plays a big role in combining a healthy body with a healthy mind. The three Ds is what he uses to express his concern, determination, dedication and discipline, and if applied, you will disregard any struggle in life as you learn and you grow.
Dale Horne who moved to Johannesburg from Durban has fallen in love with the city. He is a director of whistle blowers which promote ethics and honesty in the work place. He is also an ambassador for Guess SA and USN. He wants to learn and grow as an individual, meet new people and continue the adventure. He entered to create awareness for the youth and Mr SA.. He has been blessed with a good infrastructure whereby he can travel abroad and promote in and around Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
Saligh Dollies (20) experience has been amazing and he has learnt a lot about himself. He says,Anyone who is willing to enter this competition, needs to be dedicated.
Garth Long is an ambassador for two main charities. He enjoys doing charity work and helps the community. His response to Mr SA: It is to inspire people. It is more than just a pageant, you meet a lot of people and the experience has been fantastic. He also explained that being around the guys allowed him to learn.
Centurion based, Matthew Finschan (personal trainer) plans to move forward and get involved in mcing. He speaks to a lot of the youth by inspiring them to unlock their potential. He believes that one should be themselves and have a vision.
