The Bag Lady

If you are travelling away this Easter weekend drive safely, and for those who are staying put, like me, enjoy a relaxing weekend with family and friends.

Well, what a mixed bag of weather we have been having. I’m not a rain lover, as you know I’m sure, all I want to do is crawl into bed with a book and I definitely don’t have more energy, as others seem to have on cooler and wet days. In fact, I have no energy at all!

Those who know me must be thinking “How did she ever live in England?” Believe me, it was a struggle.

Easter fun

If you are travelling away this Easter weekend drive safely, and for those who are staying put, like me, enjoy a relaxing weekend with family and friends. I’ll have friends here from England so I’m sure we’ll be out and about locally, enjoying what Jozi and surrounds has to offer, and there’s plenty.

Visit Emmarentia Park with its botanic gardens featuring herb garden, a hedge garden, a succulent garden and a rose garden among others. Or picnic at Emmarentia Dam. There are also loads of open lawn areas for children to run around and enjoy themselves. Or take a drive to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in the West Rand and enjoy a picnic. The gardens are stunning, as well as the waterfall and for the more energetic take one of the walks. Joburg Zoo offers a great day out, especially if you have little ones to keep amused. Otherwise, meet family and friends and choose from some wonderful restaurants and enjoy a leisurely lunch; or visit an outdoor market. Fingers crossed the weekend will be warm and dry. Enjoy!

Bouquet of the Week

Linda Payne gives a big bouquet to Marinus at Bracken City Pick n Pay.

“A few weeks ago I got to the checkout at Pick n’ Pay, Bracken City, and realised I was just over R10 short to pay for my groceries. Before I could say to Marinus the cashier, “please take off one of the items”, he said not to worry as he would make up the difference and promptly took the money from his pocket. I was so surprised and walked back to my car in a bit of a daze, not sure what had happened. A few days later I went back to the store and sought out Marinus at his till and paid him back with a generous tip to say thank you. Marinus, you didn’t have to do that but it was much appreciated and just shows that there are still some very special people among us.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop.
