Reading Country Club gets an extra boost

Reading now has an official sponsor for monthly mixed open golf days.

THEIR aim is to get South Africans as active as possible through making all forms of sport as accessible and affordable as possible.

Decathlon Megastore in Alberton has recently joined forces with Reading Country Club whereby they became the main sponsor of the monthly mixed open golf days at Reading.

Sport leader at Decathlon Alberton Steven Malan said: “It’s an exciting venture for us. Golf is a beautiful sport and in many cases, golfers are also keen outdoor type people and people interested in other sports as well. Getting them into our store allows us to showcase the variety of outdoor and sports equipment on our floors.”

The Decathlon Megastore in Mall at Newmarket opened its doors in September 2017, becoming only the second Decathlon store in South Africa and the first Megastore in South Africa.

“We are very grateful for this fantastic partnership,” said ladies golf captain Shelley Daymond. “Our aim is also to get more and more people interested in the game of golf. If we can offer some great prizes in our social competitions, we are guaranteed to attract more players to our club.”

Decathlon is known for providing an environment of relaxed shopping, offering a wide variety of outdoor and sports equipment at affordable prices.

“We want to ensure that even beginners in any sport feel comfortable to shop in our store,” explained Steven.

The Decathlon brand originated in France in 1981 and has since captured an approximate 75 per cent of the sport retail market in Europe.
