GALLERY: Week-long birthday bash at Ligstad

Ligstad would like to thank everybody who has supported them from the beginning and believes there will be many more years to serve the community.

SEPTEMBER 3 is a special date for Ligstad, not only because it is the founding date of this NPC but also the day when the doors officially opened in 2012. This also means that every year, this day is celebrated by everybody who is part of the Ligstad family.

This year Ligstad had a week-long celebration with various events. On the actual birthday, the children, volunteers and staff members of Ligstad’s playgroup and aftercare, started the celebrations off by having a birthday party to commemorate the sixth year of Ligstad’s existence. Four birthday cakes were baked especially for this occasion.

The playgroup also celebrated the sandpit’s “birthday” on September 7. Each child brought the sandpit and a wrapped gift, and the sandpit was serenaded with the happy birthday song after which the birthday candles were blown out. They celebrated the sandpit’s “birthday” further by having a lovely picnic to welcome the spring.

The festive week ended on September 9 when a praise and worship celebration was led by Ilse-Louise Herholdt-Rosser in the church at Ligstad. The message was clear. To God be the glory for every step Ligstad has taken and will still take in the years to come. Ilse-Louise also composed a song (anthem) for Ligstad that was performed for the first time at the event.

SIX YEARS LATER: Four birthday cakes completed Ligstad’s sixth birthday celebrations. Ligstad would like to thank Amanda Jooste for her hard work in baking these cakes.
