WITH the petrol price increasing to an all-time high, the RECORD asked residents how this is affecting them. Here’s what they had to say.
ELIZABETH MOSEK: “It affects the prices of living. Everything is more expensive as well as increases in taxi fare.”RONEL OLIVIER: “I don’t drive around a lot. However, I can see food is getting more expensive and I have to count my pennies before buying groceries.”FANIE LEOKANA: “The increase is really affecting us. We are now spending less on other things.”PONKY ZWAP: “I’d rather walk and take the taxi than to fill up my car. I just put in R100, and now to go to Johannesburg I will have to put in another R100.”ANNA KEKANA: “There are no salary increases. Food, transport and costs to maintain children are getting more expensive. They need to pay us more.”SELINAH MOLOI: “It’s killing us. It hasn’t even been a year since the last raise. It’s too much.”PETER MONOYE: “t’s too high. The price just keeps going up. There’s no more money for it.”SHANE LOMBARD: “The petrol price is too rough on my budget. Maybe I should invest in a bicycle or scooter to save money – at least my home is close to where I work.”
