Blayden and Blake participated in tournament in Durban
They only play club rugby - Blake plays for the Pirates in Greenside and Blayden for the Western Cubs in Krugersdorp.
BLAYDEN Heytmayer and his friend, Blake Neal, are learners at Kenton Primary School, where rugby is not offered as a sport.
However, they play club rugby in their free time and they recently attended trials at the Alberton Rugby Club for the u-13 Golden Lions IPT team.
After performing well at the trials, they were both selected to participate in a tournament in Durban from October 1 to 6.

At this tournament, their team won three out of four games. They only lost the last game against the opposing Blue Bulls 15 – 19.
The Lions went through to the finals against the Blue Bulls on October 6, and after nailbiting nervousness, the Lion brought home the trophy for the first time in eight years. The score was 12 – 5.
“This is a huge achievement for both boys,” said Blayden’s mother, Cherise.
“Our boys only play club rugby. Blake plays for the Pirates in Greenside and Blayden for the Western Cubs in Krugersdorp.”
Cherise further expressed her pride in Blayden and Blake: “They competed against boys whose schools offer rugby as a sport and who has far more experience than them. However, these two talented young gentlemen are passionate and work very hard for their achievements. That’s why they were selected. They’ve proudly earned it.”
Blake’s mother, Tracy, also expressed her pride towards her boy: “Blake has only been playing for three years, but has accomplished so much. From the age of three he told me he will play Springbok rugby when he’s grown up. Blake has such passion for the game. He’s found his place in the sun to shine!”
Tracy also mentioned a number of Blake’s achievements which include being chosen to go on several overseas tours. More more about this in a next edition.
*The RECORD will soon be doing a follow-up article to properly introduce Blayden and Blake to the community. Stay tuned.
