We asked a few graduates how they felt about their results and what their future plans are.

THE community’s public high schools released their class of 2018 matric results on the morning of January 4. The RECORD’s journalists visited each school and asked a few graduates to share how they felt about their results and what their future plans are.

Hoërskool Dinamika graduates

Ruben Roux said: “I am relatively satisfied with my results. I’m not really sure what I want to do after matric. It’s a big decision. That is why I’ll be taking a gap year to decide what’s best for me.”

Antoinette Bezuidenhout said: “I am satisfied with my results, but I would have liked to have better results for maths. Depending on whether my grades are good enough, I hope to study zoology at the University of Potchefstroom. Otherwise, I’ll study a combined course of environmental studies, geography and psychology.”

Hoërskool Alberton graduates

Rochelle Parsons said: “I must say, I am very happy with my results. It’s rather good and I’m proud of myself! So, my plans for the future now are to study at the University of Johannesburg to become a teacher.”

Juané Labuschagne said: “I am relieved, proud and excited about my results. Overall I’m very happy. I also want to study to become a teacher, preferably at the University of Johannesburg or Potchefstroom.”

Alberton High School graduates

Kirsten Warren said: “I was pleasantly surprised when I saw my results, and I am very satisfied with it. I’m excited to go and study hairdressing and makeup special effects art at The Hair Academy of South Africa (THASA).”

Leandré de Beer said: “I’m very happy with my results. I actually did better than I expected. I’m now determined to study for a BComm finance degree at the University of Johannesburg.”

Bracken High School Graduates:

Rorisang Moletsane said: “I am glad to be done with matric. Next year I plan to study to become a forensic anthropologist.”

Tisha Humanikaa and Rorisan Khumalo said that they were very happy and excited to have finished with school. At the same time they are nervous to enter the wide open world.

Glenbrack High School Graduates:

Austin Mpapane said: “ I’m very excited to have graduated. The whole wide world is now open to us.”

Marais Viljoen Graduates:

Franco and Marco Coetzee are happy to be done with their years at school and can’t wait to get started with studying electrical engineering.

Devashi Ready said: “I’m happy that everything went well and that I can start studying now.”
