The metro just don’t care

As a regular visitor to the Alberton Library I notice with dismay that the lighting in the adult library is getting poorer each time.

As a matter of interest, one of the librarians and myself counted the missing flourescent tubes on December 2 and found that there were 241 tubes not working.

My suggestion was that a tin be placed on the counter requesting donations to replace these tubes.

I was told that this would not be allowed as it would implicate that the Council seem to be struggling financially. However, with metro not doing anything about it, it would make sense that this route be followed.

Soon the entire place will be in darkness as well as without air conditioning which I understand has been in the budget for ages and still nothing has been done.

It would be interesting to hear from the Council on this matter.
