Team Pit Bull lift for strongman

Pit Bull Gymnasium entered four lifters into the Lifting for Francois competition.

PIT Bull Gymnasium entered four lifters into the Lifting for Francois competition held at the Madison Avenue Nightclub in Tshwane on April 27.

The competition was held to commemorate the life of Francois Swart, a well-known strongman and powerlifter, who was shot dead during a foiled heist by seven heavily armed suspects in March about 1km from Emperors Palace.

Team captain Armand Visser had two personal bests, one with the bench press and the other in the dead lift.

Hendrik Burger competed in the log press, dead lift and bench press, setting personal records for all three disciplines.

Melissa Stander got six out of six in the lifts to power her way to personal best records.

Natasha Stander lifted with class, attaining personal bests in the bench press and the dead lift categories of the competition.
