CrossFit Alberton 2.0 competes at Arnold Classic

The competitors took part from May 17 to 19.

THE Arnold Classic Africa festival took place from May 17 to 19 at the Sandton Convention Centre where thousands of people competed in various sports.

The expo is aimed at promoting weightlifting in all forms of life. A few local competitors from CrossFit Alberton 2.0 (CFA) took part under the wing of coach Matthew le Roux, who has competed in many of these events and most recently competed in Dubai for team South Africa in weightlifting.

He is now passing on his skills and knowledge to other like-minded individuals and teens to hopefully inspire them to follow a career in weightlifting.

“It was incredible to have had the gift of seeing these hardworking teens and CFA competitors experience their hard work paying off,” said le Roux. “As a coach, it’s what I live for. To see people change their lives and realise their abilities are limitless if they work hard, smart and passionately.”
