15 KIDDIES Cake Carnival at Pick n Pay Lemon Tree, Alberton, in aid of Stepping Stone Hospice on June 15 from 9am to 2pm. Bring your little ones (between ages five and 12) who will be entertained with face painting and decorating cakes while mom and dad can do their shopping. Little ones can take part at R30 per child and stand a chance to win awesome prizes. Raffle tickets are already on sale in-store at R50 per ticket. You can win a 43-inch LG LED television set. Second prize is a full lamb and third prize a Huawei Y5 Lite. All proceeds, also those from the raffles, will go towards the hospice in the form of grocery vouchers.

27-30 THE Bavarian Christmas Festival, the open parking area at Silverstar Casino will be transformed into a typical Bavarian town square. The festival runs from June 27 to June 30. An authentic Oompah Band will perform and Bavarian delicacies like eisbein, bratwurst and gluhwein will be on sale. There will be a village market, amusement park and the ever popular Santa Claus. Tickets can be purchased from Computicket and are R60 per person. Children under 12 enter free of charge.

29 NIK Rabinowits Brings the Comedy! at the Ballroom at Silverstar Casino on June 29. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are R140 per person and can be purchased from Computicket.

7 JOZI Urban Market, Gold Reef City Casino, fifth floor covered rooftop car park. Taking place the first Sunday of every month from 10am to 3pm. Gourmet food, craft beer and gin, unique stalls, spectacular views, live music and free children’s entertainment.

11 SA Military History Society Johannesburg branch will meet again on July 11 at 8pm in the auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold (next to the zoo). First event will be: Keasarge vs Albamaby Colin Harris with the main lecture, South African Military Chaplains in the Early 20th Century, by Anne Sampson. Wives are welcome to come along with their husbands. Visitors are charged R30 per person, which includes tea or coffee after the lecture. 20 SAVE the date. Känguru’s annual fun run/walk will be on July 20. Get your family and friends together and come and join us on this day. Run/walk starts at 8am at Känguru Foundation, 43 Garthview Raod, Kliprivier. Tea and coffee available to fight off the morning chill. Food and drinks will be sold.
