Great entertainment lined up for Jozi Street Culture
Make your way to Rietvlei Zoo Farm, 101 Swartkoppies Road, on July 13 from 1pm to 9pm.
AS the name suggests, Jozi Street Culture 2019 is an all-encompassing street culture event.
This inaugural event is a must-attend in Jozi south and will feature the peak of artistic expression that the busy city of Johannesburg rarely gets to see.
Jozi Street Culture 2019 aims to present a day of A-list all-round entertainment, which will feature celeb appearances, music performances, battle of the mic, street dance crew performances, one vs one all-style street dance battles, street art (graffiti wall), fashion stalls, food trucks, bars and an overall good vibe.
This is the one time the city of Johannesburg comes alive with true freedom of expression, providing a home for street culture fanatics, artists and industry players to come together and celebrate hip-hop, house and youth culture in general.
Dion van der Merwe, aka ‘Big D’, the concept creator and financier of this platform, said despite it being a very nerve-racking and stressful period delivering the event, it is also inspiring to be part of creating something new that will counteract negative stereotypes often associated with the genre.
“It has been extremely eye-opening to see the level of interest in the aspiring artist section of the event, and experiencing first hand the sheer hunger and desire the youth have to be famous is astounding.
“The amount of raw talent in our city is mind boggling and, who knows, perhaps over time we will discover the next big thing,” Big D said.
