The tournament, with 10 people in each team, was held at Laerskool Generaal Alberts Primary School.
IN an effort to build a relationship between employees of Netcare Union Hospital and Netcare Clinton Hospital, the health-care institutions hosted a friendly netball tournament on September 7.
The tournament, with 10 people in each team, was held at Laerskool Generaal Alberts Primary School.
The match was between Netcare Union Hospital medical section one, Purple Heart and Red Heart, the hospital’s cardiac ICU section.
Red Heart was the victorious team with a score of 21 to 16.

Hosted for the first time, the friendly tournament also succeeded in keeping participants fit, as they promoted the culture of sport.
Netcare Union Hospital’s management team, Amakrokokroko, and Netcare Clinton Hospital’s management also played against each other.
The Clinton Hospital’s management team hammered their opponents, despite their rivals showing off defensive skills on the netball court.
After the matches, teams were offered refreshments. The winning team, Red Heart, was awarded a trophy.
Violet Mudanyane, unit manager CICU at the Netcare Union Hospital, said the tournament helped them in building bonds between the staff.

“It was my first time to ever play netball and it was exciting. We will host a similar tournament in November.
“Some of our physicians also joined in the team-building and played for a medical ward team, which included Dr Bukiwe Peya, Dr Adri Kok and Dr Siphokazi Dlakane,” she said.
She also said that the friendly match focused on team building and improving nurses’ morale.
